Yesterday, after playing in the multiple pools and water slides of La Costa Resort and Spa we celebrated the wedding of Michelle’s cousin Jon and his beautiful bride Sarah. It was held in the middle of the Botanical Gardens in Encinitas, which was a picture perfect setting.
Today, after a bit of recovery from all of the celebrating, we left Encinitas and drove north to Temecula. The day started with a wine tasting tour of three different local wineries. The tour was part of a special package deal that The Temecula Creek Inn offers – with your room, you also get the limo tour with tastings, and a “gourmet picinic” lunch (which was more “brown bag” than gourmet.)
A huge SUV limo picked us up at our new hotel, The Temecula Creek Inn, and took us to Leonesse Cellars followed by Wiens Family Cellars and finally Stuart Cellars. At each location we tasted a selection of whites, reds, ports and dessert wines. My favorites were the white merlot from Leonesse and the Amour De L’Orange (orange infused champagne) from Wiens.
Once we finished drinking… I mean, tasting, some beautiful wines – we headed back to the hotel for some more pool time and fireworks from the hotel balcony.
Only one more day left in sunny California… How did 6 days go so quickly??
